In 2007 the city sales tax rate was raised by a quarter cent to provide school districts 86 and 309 the extra tax dollars needed to fund building projects.  This has allowed Central Jr. High the funding to build phase 1.  By having funding phase 1 complete, the school district qualified for additional funding to build phase 2 which is expected to be completed fall of 2015.  The high school has also benefited from this additional tax to fund a new cafeteria as well as new classrooms.
