Commissioner of Public Property, City of East Peoria, 2007-present
I am a lifelong resident of East Peoria, growing up on Muller Road. After getting married to Lynette in 1979, we made our home on Jim Court for nearly 15 years. We then built and moved to our current home at 211 N. Rustic in 1995.
Having attended Oak Grove Bible Church since a youth, I have held various positions of service, teaching and leadership. I currently serve on our Council and have been volunteering in our AWANA Youth Club for 24 years.
I am a member of the General Committee of the Christian Center of Peoria, which oversees the sports and ministry programs of over 2,000 youth and adult participants annually. The Christian Center has also been prominent in sponsoring the Father-Daughter “Purity Ball” that I have been privileged to attend.
As an employee of Caterpillar, Inc. for over 32 years, my experience has ranged from apprenticeship factory work to various positions in manufacturing and engineering. For the past 15 years, I have worked as a Service Engineer in Defense & Federal Products. Working primarily with approximately 35 Cat dealerships worldwide, I also interact with the U. S. Government in completing the rebuilding and servicing of military construction equipment, both domestic and deployed, as part of a multi-million dollar program.
For the past four years I have served as Commissioner of Public Property in Public Works, overseeing both the Water and Wastewater Departments. I have worked to provide our department used machine options, including the purchase of a backhoe loader and wheeled excavator at a cost savings of over $100,000 versus new. Having these machines has allowed our city employees to complete jobs that previously would have been contracted out. This practice has provided substantial cost savings for our city. Also, I have supported nearly doubling road funding and repair maintenance.
I have had the privilege and blessing of a wonderful family heritage while growing up and living in East Peoria. I believe that my training and experience has prepared me well for the continued task at hand. I ask for your support and vote once again for Commissioner in the General Election on April 5. With your support and the support of others like you, I will count it a privilege to work for East Peoria while being available to serve you.
